POTUS goes back into erratic mode on COVID and masks
Behold, a wonder of wonders! POTUS has not only decided that masks are a good idea after all, but that "there's nothing more important in this country than keeping our people safe!"
Funny. I thought he told us that a futile gesture at rescuing the economy was the most important thing, no matter how many people it killed. Told us that over and over, in fact, and convinced maybe a third of the population that he was right!
But he still wants us to open all of our schools during a pandemic that would certainly mean that kids would bring the virus home to Mom and Dad and indirectly to everyone they come into contact with even if the kids themselves weren't badly affected. And then, of course, there's the fact that individuals of all ages die of COVID, even though some demographic groups are less vulnerable than others.
Does he have no shame or no memory? Of course, he boasted to Chris Wallace about passing a test for dementia (!), so surely that can't be it.
Of course, we've seen this sort of thing before. He seemed to suddenly take the virus seriously for a while several months ago, and even held daily press conferences with Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx and his task force- which came up with a very sensible set of recommendations for a cautious, phased reopening of the economy- which, of course, with Mr. Trump's encouragement, most of the states simply ignored, leading to the rebound of the virus we are experiencing now.
