It's too early to get too excited, but Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine looks promising!
Pfizer's COVID vaccine shows early signs of being 90% effective- about as effective as the measles vaccine- and we could be seeing the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.
Caution is on order here. Many hurdles remain before the vaccine is made available, and we don't know for how long the immunity it confers will last. Presumably, booster shots will be necessary every few months, at least until the virus is no longer common. There are questions about safety to be answered and issues relating to the vaccine's suitability for people with certain health conditions. But if this works out, we might have a workable solution other than lockdowns and masks and social distancing for the first time.
If the vaccine is eventually approved- and that could be a while- Pfizer will still have to produce and distribute it. It could be quite a while before it becomes available to most of us. But any way you look at it, this is awfully good news.
Now, I think the moment has come for us to start praying if we aren't already.
