Enough is enough

The COVID mass vaccination site at Dodger Stadium has been temporarily shut down by lunatic Trumpers. Time to face the fact that the assault on the Capitol was only the beginning.

Enough people have died because of the MAGA psychosis. When this stuff happens, the powers that be need to go all Lafayette Square on their hineys.  These people belong in jail. Actually, they belong in mental institutions; they are not only out of their minds but clearly and literally are a danger to others.

The Clear and Present Danger Test needs to be applied and applied ruthlessly. People are free to say anything they like and express any opinion they want. The Constitution guarantees them that right. But when speech poses a clear and present danger of harm, it ceases to be protected by the First Amendment. And preventing people from getting a vaccination that could potentially save their lives is harm, as indeed as the deaths of at least four people, the damage to property, and the damage to our institutions done by the Capitol insurrection. Those responsible for that, for the incident at Dodger Stadium, and other such outrages have to be held accountable.

Chief among them, of course, is Donald Trump. Alas, the overwhelming majority of Republicans in Congress are either sniveling cowards or nut jobs themselves and are more afraid of Donald Trump and the authoritarian movement he leads than of violating their oaths of office and scarring their own souls.

Our freedom and our civilization are under attack.  And the oath our Federal officials took (and for which the majority of Republicans in Congress have such little regard) to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" demands that these turkeys be shut down, and shut down hard.

These people are dangerous not only to our liberty but to our physical safety and our very lives. The rest of us have a right to be protected from them.
