This blog once was an item on CNN!

I just came across a CNN transcript from back when they were getting ready to elect the current pope in which Jacki Schechner of CNN quotes this blog (even while getting both its name and its URL wrong... but who's complaining?).

Anyway, here's the text:

Then, Bob Waters over at WatersBlog, and that's at blogstudio.com/watersblog. He's got a whole post about the process that's going on right now, a lot of what we've been hearing elsewhere. But he's also got some links to the odds on the election of the various candidates. And you can either check out paddypower.com for the pope odds, and the Cardinal Arinze from Nigeria is actually in the lead right now at three to one odds. You can also place your bet on the name that the pope who is chosen will choose to take. Benedict being the top one over there, right now. Watersblog, though, by the way -- Bob is weighing in on what he pick would be and he thinks it's going to be Cardinal Ratzinger. He thinks it is going to take three days. He thinks he will take the name John Paul III. So, he's not going with the obvious choice right now.

And, of course, he was wrong both about the length of the conclave and the name the eventual pope would take.

Ms. Schechner actually seems to be referring to three entries: here and here and here.

I don't think I've ever been quoted on CNN before. And while I'm not a big fan of that network, I'm sort of flattered.

Even if I am exposed here as a sometime Lutheran minister aiding and abetting Irish bookies!
