Carville: If things don't change, 2012 will be "rough" for Obama

James Carville, the Karl Rove of the Clinton administration, is noted for his folksy but combative defense of the Democratic party line.

But right now, he is not a happy warrior.

If the May economic statistics don't improve significantly, Carville warns, 2012 will be a "very rough" year for President Obama.

Just like 2009, 2010, and 2011 have been for the rest of us.

Ok, maybe that was a cheap shot. The economy collapsed under Dubyah's watch, not Mr. Obama's. But the fact remains that trying to spend us out of the economic crisis when the Federal government is teetering on the brink of insolvency hasn't helped- and Mr. Obama is going to have to run on his record next year, not on "hope."
