OK, so we're better than the Panthers

The Bears had to beat Carolina yesterday.

They did, 34-29. Not the most impressive victory, but hey. You know what they say about beggars and choosers.

Jay Cutler was sacked only once, but wasn't all that successful in the passing game despite less risk to life and limb than against the Moldy Cheddar seven days previously. This week, Matt Forte was the one who looked like he was running for his life, rushing for 205 yards and joining  immortals Walter Payton and Gale Sayers as the only Bears ever to rush for more than 200 yards in a game.

Next week, the Ursine Warriors face another must-win, this time against the resurgent Detroit Lions. Daytwah is no longer the bunch of kittens we associate with the silver and blue. Believe it or not, they're undefeated.

The season, of course, will come down to Christmas Day, when the Bears must beat the Packers in order to avoid having their season rendered a failure no matter what else happens. Even a Super Bowl championship in a year when we lose to the Mold and Gold twice is a disgrace.

But in the meantime, we have to catch up to the Lions and the Curdheads. BEAR DOWN!
