Some charges of bigotry are plausible. Some, on the other hand, are not.
Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher has decided that Herman Cain- who, like Belcher himself, is African-American- is a "racist" because of his claim that African-American voters have been "brainwashed" into voting Democratic.
Belcher apparently considers this an attack on the intelligence of African-Americans, rather than a commentary on the illicit influence of the political bosses who control so many aspects of the lives of economically and socially disadvantaged in our society- and who historically prey on the ease with which the votes of the undereducated and disempowered can be manipulated and even stolen. In liberalese, "suppressing the vote" usually means preventing historic Democratic constituencies- not so much minorities as such the dead and the ficticious members of their communities- from exercising the franchise.
Meanwhile, Lefties in and out of the media have been falling all over each other lately to make snarky comments about Gov. Chris Christie's weight- and the guy isn't even in the race yet (my guess, btw, is that he never will be). This from the party that prides itself on its social conscience and compassion, and its penchant for standing up for the underdog.
I hope my fellow persons of size are paying attention.
