Rest in peace, Gordie Howe

No serious hockey fan can fail to take notice of the death of Gordie Howe, the man who inspired  the great Bobby Hull to change his number in admiration and who Wayne Gretzky calls the greatest hockey player who ever lived.

Yeah, he played for the hated Detroit Red Wings. But nobody can deny his greatness. In leading the evil Red Wings to a series of Stanley Cups in the early '50s, Howe demonstrated incomparable leadership in addition to amazing skill.

This is a sad day for all hockey fans, and for sports fans of all flavors. By reputation, Howe was a fine man in addition to being one of the greatest hockey players who ever lived. Red Wing though he was, this Blackhawks fanatic mourns his passing.
