May appears likely to be the UK's next prime minister

Looks like Home Secretary Theresa May, who stayed neutral during the Brexit tossup, will be the UK's next prime minister.

May received 199 votes to 84 for Brexiter and runner-up Andrea Leadsom in the second round of balloting to succeed outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron as Conservative party leader.

The runoff will be held September 9. With Labour in disarray, the winner may well be prime minister for some time.

London Lord Mayor Boris Johnson, who had been favored by many to win the race, opted out instead.
