Trump unhinged; the 25th Amendment beckons

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice-President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

I wonder how long it's going to take before the American people recognize that the President of the United States is simply not a healthy man psychologically.

It's getting harder and harder to rationalize his delusions, and harder and harder to find any other word for them. President Obama was not born in Kenya and there was never a rational reason to think that he was. And good grief- Ted Cruz's father did not conspire with Lee Harvey Oswald to assassinate President Kennedy! President Trump claimed the first and insinuated the second, and yet people continued to take him seriously.

From the moment he declared his candidacy and long before, Mr. Trump over and over has made wild statements and preposterous claims which were demonstrably untrue with alarming regularity. The gullible and the crazy believed him, and people I can't bring myself to believe are either continue to excuse or try to rationalize the pattern away.The majority of Americans continue to be in denial about the danger posed to the Republic by a president who is literally a pathological liar who can't help himself if he doesn't believe the things he says and certifiably nuts if he does.

Either way, he is simply not a well man. The media are not engaged in a conspiracy to conceal terrorist attacks from the American people and I find it hard to understand how any sane person can fail to be frightened to death that the man with his finger on the nuclear button can say such a thing.

The only thing scarier than a president who is not in touch with reality is a nation which can stare such a situation in the face and still remain in denial about it.
