Say goodbye to your jobs, American workers!

When you establish protective tariffs, the other country retaliates. You end up selling even less of your goods in the other country, and the impact on the trade deficit is a wash- at best.

In any case, Americans lose their jobs. Nobody wins a trade war. That's the clear lesson of history. It's why we stopped engaging in them.

That's what economically and historically literate people understand. And that's what happens when you elect an economically illiterate blowhard who made his money in real estate and who has driven literally every company he's ever owned into the ground as President of the United States.

And that's why the Dow is crashing today. That's why far from safeguarding their jobs, the American workers who voted for Trump because he's a protectionist are more likely to lose them because they did so.

Mr. President, we're still far too close to the Great Recession to be pulling this kind of erratic stunt. Wise up. Read some history. Or at least listen to people who know what they're talking about when it comes to trade because you don't.
