This is just not the way an innocent man behaves

On the eve of the release of the much lied-about Mueller Report, President Trump has renewed his attacks on the man who issued it.

Think about why a "vindicated" president would behave this way. Think, too, about why an innocent man would denounce an investigation and vilify the investigator rather than openly cooperating with it and even welcoming it, since after all it was going to establish his innocence and clear his name.

If, that is, that is what he thought the result of an investigation would be..

And before anybody even says it, no. We know even now that the Mueller report did NOT establish Mr. Trump's innocence. It merely found insufficient evidence to bring charges against him. Not the same thing- and once again, why would somebody with nothing to hide be so anxious to lie about what we already know the report contains?

It's just another example of perhaps the most disturbing thing about President Trump. To a degree unprecidented in our history, Mr. Trump lies about things that are common knowlege. True, he knows that his base will believe him, no matter how outrageous what he says might be. But it's worrisome to have a president with what seems to be an all-pervasive and morbid fear of the truth. And I have a hard time understanding how anyone who hasn't completely turned off his or her mind can not be worried about it.

By the way, this is several months old, but also worth reading in the face of the president's ongoing claim that the Mueller probe was nothing but a "witch hunt." Even in the minds of those who hanged so many innocent women (and men) in Salem long ago, that town would have to have been vitrually free of witches compared to the Trump administration.
