With one voice, Trump and Trumpworld lie again

President Trump and Trumpworld not only habitually lie in the advancement of his interests, but their lying is often absolutely shameless. In fact, often one wonders whether they're even consciously aware that they're lying.

It's become kind of a regular thing, something to be expected from President Trump and his supporters. It happened with the Mueller Report, which President Trump and Trumpworld claimed exonerated him when the report itself said in so many words that it did not.

And now, those who dwell in the Orange Bubble Universe are claiming that Justice Department Inspector General Horowitz found that the FBI was biased against President Trump even though Horowitz specifically said in his report- and repeated today in testimony before Congress- that he found no evidence of anti-Trump bias by the FBI and that its investigation of the connection between the Trump campaign and Russia was completely justified by the evidence which caused the FBI to undertake it.

The report was indeed highly critical of the FBI on procedural grounds, especially as regards its failure to warn the President about the highly dubious claim that he had paid prostitutes to urinate on the bed on which former President Obama once slept (not, as Sen. Graham incorrectly claimed today, on Mr. Trump). But that's not quite the same thing as saying that the FBI was out to get him.

In fact, it's not even nearly the same thing.

I start to wonder how Trumpworld can continue to swallow POTUS's blatant and so very-frequent lies whole in spite of that he is so obviously lying. But then, I remember that this is the guy who said during the campaign for the Republican nomination- and was absolutely correct- that if he committed cold-blooded murder in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue in New York, he wouldn't lose any votes.

People believe Mr. Trump because they want to, and one cannot be reasoned out of what one was never reasoned into in the first place. That's why it's so useless trying to debate Trumpers. They live in an alternate reality in which truth is not what is true, but rather what the President claims is true, no matter how discredited or absurd. Lies- "fake news," if you will- is not what is false, but simply whatever Mr. Trump denies or what puts him in a bad light, no matter how strongly supported by the evidence it may be.

I actually encountered someone on Twitter this morning who claimed that the fact that the Democrats in the House are only pursuing two articles of impeachment, both relating to the Ukraine affair, this proves that there was no basis for the stuff the Mueller Report talked about or any other accusations anyone may make against the President.

Sometime this week, the House will make Donald Trump the third president in American history to be impeached. His supporters will claim that they have been planning to impeach him from the outset. That's actually closer to the truth than most claims they make; a great many people- myself included- predicted even before he was elected that given his long and consistent record of corruption, emotional instability, erratic behavior, and incompetence, impeachment was inevitable. The reason isn't Democratic malice. It's that Donald Trump is a walking article of impeachment.

And once the House has impeached Mr. Trump, the Senate will stage a sham trial and acquit him as expeditiously as possible despite the evidence. And then President Trump and Trumpworld will lie once again, and say that this proves that he did nothing wrong.
